15th October for one day only – 20 international artists set up their pitches and painted, felted and sculpted in front of shoppers and art lovers at the Mercado Merced in Barrio Picasso, Málaga.
It was a beautiful day, so I set up outside with help from my supportive husband Jan. I brought along a selection of sculptures, my A3 portfolio with abstract watercolours and a display of flamenco art, including the wine bottles, leaflets, a mug, cards, prints and originals.
It was interesting meeting other artists and talking to people, as I sculpted away at my clay piece. You can also read a blog post just about Ellen The Duck Angel that I made there and see a time lapse of her being built.
Acrylic Painting
I also did this painting of a calm face using the personalised colours of the acrylic paints of Danish artist Eva Joensen. I might have to get a set at some point because I have been thinking about using acrylics for more illustrative pieces, plus she said they are great for murals. http://propainting.dk/fabelkunst-colors-156/ I began filling in the background with yellow and green. Then I created some abstract shapes, layering up splashes and dots until I decided to put a pair of lips on and a face soon followed, more splashes and she was done. I really like her calm colourful demeanour.
